Zippo’s Matte lighters are one of the most popular lighter finishes as the matte finish gives the lighter a smooth texture, it doesn’t show fingerprints, it doesn't scratch easily, and there are a variety of colors to choose from. The black matte lighter was first introduced into Zippo’s stock line in 1984 and soon after four more colors were introduced; blue, burgundy, green, and grey. In 1985, the Zippo logo was imprinted on the lighter and a border was added. Matte colors and designs continue to improve with time. Each lighter has a bottom stamp signifying the year it was made, is refillable, and is backed by Zippo's famous lifetime guarantee. I've used Zippos for almost 15 years. This was my first slim. Out of the box it was hard to light and had a tiny flame. Took it apart and noticed the wick wasn't installed correctly. It was just stuffed up at the top. Took out the rayon, gave it more wick out the top and routed the wick inside correctly. Now it lights like my regular zippos and has a decent sized flame that doesnt blow out. Its nice and tiny, I might start carrying these around more.
